How do you quiten the boat at night?

Boom gallows help. I put the anchor rope through the fairlead not the bow roller to keep it away from the inner bobstay. halards are bungeed to stop them flaping. The biggest noise is the rudder, I have to get the pintals sorted to stop the clunking. In the mean time they are tied bungeed to reduce any movement.

I find that bungee on the tiller instead of lashing works well.

Also, wrapping the peak halyard around and around the mast will stop any noise and wear.

Rudder hangings are the biggest problem on my 28. I can frap halyards away from the mast, and generally lash down/wedge just about everything else. But my usual tiller lashing which goes side-to-side between backstay fixings doesn't take out all the play, and I end up with a really tight lashing of tiller to sheet horse. Generally gets remembered about half an hour after I have turned in. That usually does the trick but every season with VR out of the water I look at the rudder hangings and think about boring them out and fitting nylon bushes (or maybe something that doesn't swell in water!). I'm not sure how much clearance is really needed in these hinges.
